Mary says, "Chianti is the last truly affordable great red wine that exists today." Based on the Sangiovese grape, most Chiantis are dry, with a velvety texture, fresh cherry flavor and aroma and pair terrifically well with food. Of the many styles, Mary loves classico, which is fairly easy to find. She recommends the following producers, all of which are well-established, historic companies offering a wide range of styles and prices: Antonori, Brolio, and Ruffino.
