Beer guy Steven Beaumont enjoys unusual brews from innovators who like to fly outside the flock. Here are some of his favorites:

  • Bourbon County Stout from Goose Island Brewing in Chicago is aged in old bourbon barrels.

  • Barleywine and Midas' Touch from Dogfish Head Brewery in Delaware. The Midas' Touch is from a recipe reputed to be from Midas' tomb.

  • The brewers at Russian River in Santa Rosa, California do wild and wacky stuff with bacteria. Try their Temptation and Redemption.

  • Rye Squared from Terrapin Brewing in Georgia is made with rye as well as barley malt.
