Custom Curling's collection of Chateau Laguiole corkscrews is considered by many to be finest handmade wine openers in the world. The latest addition to the collection features a wood handle made from "Marie Antoinette's Oak," the tree planted by André Le Nôtre in 1679 in the gardens at Versailles. The tree was notorious for being the Queen's favorite place to rest during hot summer days.

The bottom section of the tree is on display at Versailles and a sapling of the same species was planted in its original location. Master Sommelier and Cutler, Guy Vialis, creator of Chateau Laguiole, purchased the remaining portion of the tree in its entirety to make a variety of collector knives and this wine opener.

In honor of its historic significance, the Chateau Laguiole Versailles Collection has been given a royal seal — an exact replica of the original private seal that appears on all of Marie Antoinette's private retreats at Versailles.

Due to its historic attributes, high demand and the limited availability of the piece, Custom Curling has limited the purchase amount to a maximum of one piece per customer.
