Chile is the #3 supplier of wine to the United States, but Master of Wine Mary Ewing Mulligan says Chilean wines are still hugely underrated and undervalued.

Chilean reds are very fruity, even inexpensive bottles, and are made more in the European style. Mary prefers the reds to the whites and says great values are to be had in the $5 to $10 per bottle range. She says check out these makers:

Concha y Toro: Reliable wines from a very reliable winery.

Montes: Try their wine called "M."

Casa Lapostolle: Chilean wines produced by a French family.
