We’re knee-deep in summer and in this episode, we’re talking gardening, farming and what to do with all the great stuff the earth is giving us. We talk to Leah Penniman of Soul Fire Farm in upstate New York. She is a farmer and activist dedicated to eradicating racism and the author of Farming While Black. Then, we head to Michigan, the home of chef/farmer Abra Berens. Abra is the author of the James Beard Award-nominated Ruffage, A Practical Guide to Vegetablesand who better to help Francis solve your gardening and cooking questions? Abra leaves us with a terrific recipe for Zucchini Escabéche, squash that is cooked and then cooled in a vinaigrette. Take that sweltering summer!
