This week, we talk to Andrea Nguyen about her latest book, Asian Tofu. Jane and Michael Stern are on the Eastern Shore of Virginia at the Exmore Diner. We get a smell tour of Seattle with researcher Victoria Henshaw, and we talk to Renee Shepherd of Renee's Garden about the newest in culinary seeds.

Jane and Michael Stern's Roadfood

The Exmore Diner is a wood, tile, and stainless steel streamliner just off the main road on Business Route 13. It's old (born in 1954) and a bit rickety, but handsome in its well-worn way; and we found it a wonderful place to eat breakfast. The menu features such mid-Atlantic signatures as creamed chipped beef, sausage gravy biscuits, and scrapple with grits; but even better than the food is the ambience. This is where a goodly number of the citizens of Exmore come to exchange top-of-the-morning pleasantries, news, and views.
