A quasi-tikiesque long drink created by barman Joe Scialom at the famous Shepheard Hotel in Cairo in the late ’40s as a sort of hangover cure for his guests. It was all but forgotten when tiki scholar Jeff Berry began championing the drink.
1 ounce brandy
1 ounce gin
1 ounce lime cordial
1 dash Angostura bitters
4 ounces chilled ginger beer
Mint sprig, for garnish
Orange wheel, for garnish
Combine all the ingredients except the garnishes in a rocks glass filled with ice. Stir until chilled. Garnish with the mint sprig and orange wheel.
