The Sterns say one of the Heartland's great dining experiences, especially in the cold weather months, is Porubsky's Grocery. That's when they serve their wonderful chili. They make it classic midwestern style on a tiny four-burner apartment stove then serve it up with their homemade horseradish pickle. But don't go looking for it on Fridays. The folks at Porubsky's do only lunch, and only Monday through Thursday. They don't want diners getting in the way of customers doing their weekend shopping. They dont serve coffee, either. It's no lingering here - they want you to eat and run!
