When they want a delicious Danish pastry, Jane and Michael head to Racine for a Kringle, a Danish pastry unknown in Denmark and unique to Wisconsin. Shaped like a big donut without a hole and filled with goodies like plums, poppyseeds, chocolate, or a caramel-rum mixture, Kringle can be found in at least a half dozen bakeries throughout Racine. The Sterns' favorite is Larsen's on Washington Avenue. When they can't get to Racine they needn't worry because Larsen's will send an order direct to their door.
