Beernsten's has been the town sweet shop since 1932 and very little has changed since then. They serve lunch-counter favorites like grilled cheese or egg salad sandwiches and macaroni, but the real draw is the made-from-scratch ice cream sundaes. The Sterns like the Teddy Bear and Sweetheart. If you order a hot fudge sundae, the fudge comes in a shot glass so you can measure out just the right amount you want on your ice cream. The hand-dipped chocolates at Beernsten's are notable, too. Jane likes the chocolate 'cosmetology set,' complete with mirror, hair brush, and dryer. Michael prefers the spun sugar molasses confection aptly called 'angel food.'
