This potent potion helps break up congestion in the lungs. It's a good alternative cough syrup for people who react to the artificial colors and flavors in some commercial syrups.

Be advised: Honey is not recommended for children under the age of two. Please check with your physician.

Ingredients

  • 1 onion, finely chopped

  • About 1-1/4 cups honey

Instructions

1. Put the onion in a shallow bowl and pour on the honey to cover. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it sit at room temperature for about 8 hours, or overnight.

2. Discard the onion and bottle the syrup. Swirl 1 tablespoon of the syrup in tea or hot water, 3 times a day.

If the weather is damp: Take the syrup as is.

If the weather is dry: Swirl 1 teaspoon lemon juice into the tea or hot water before drinking.
